History and Origins

Thai massage, known as “Nuad Boran” in its native tongue, traces its roots back to ancient Thailand, where it evolved as a sacred healing art within Buddhist temples. Its origins intertwine with the teachings of Ayurveda from India and traditional Chinese medicine, resulting in a holistic approach to wellness that addresses the body, mind, and spirit.

Legend has it that the Thai version of  massage was founded by Shivago Komarpaj, a physician to the Buddha, who imparted his knowledge to monks as a means of promoting physical and spiritual well-being. Over the centuries, the Thai technique of massage has been passed down through generations, blending indigenous techniques with influences from neighboring cultures to become the therapeutic practice we know today.

What Our Clients Are Saying About Us

The Essence of Thai Massage

At its core, Thai massage is a dynamic form of bodywork that combines acupressure, assisted yoga stretches, and mindfulness techniques to restore balance and vitality. Unlike Western massage modalities, which are typically performed on a massage table, Thai traditional  massage is  conducted on a padded mat on the floor, allowing for greater freedom of movement and flexibility.

Central to Thai traditional massage is the concept of “sen” lines, which are akin to the meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. Practitioners apply rhythmic pressure along these energy pathways to release blockages and stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Additionally, gentle stretching and joint mobilization movements help to improve flexibility, enhance circulation, and alleviate muscular tension.traditional thai massage monk

The benefits of Thai massage are manifold, extending beyond mere physical relaxation to encompass mental and emotional well-being. Some of the key benefits include:

  1. Relief from muscular tension and pain : Thai massage targets specific areas of tension in the body, helping to alleviate discomfort and promote relaxation.
  2. Improved flexibility and range of motion : The stretching techniques employed in Thai massage help to lengthen muscles and increase joint mobility, enhancing flexibility and agility.
  3. Enhanced circulation : By stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage, Thai massage supports the body’s natural detoxification processes and promotes overall circulation.
  4. Stress reduction and relaxation : Through its rhythmic movements and mindful approach, Thai massage induces a deep sense of relaxation, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.
  5. Balanced energy flow : By working along the body’s energy pathways, Thai massage helps to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit.

What to Expect During a Session

If you’re considering experiencing Thai massage for the first time, knowing what to expect can help you fully embrace the experience. A typical Thai massage session begins with a consultation, during which the practitioner will inquire about any health concerns or areas of focus for the session. You’ll then be invited to lie down on a padded mat, dressed in comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.Traditional Thai Massage

Throughout the session, the practitioner will use a combination of palm pressure, thumb pressure, and gentle stretching to address specific areas of tension and promote relaxation. Communication is key, so feel free to provide feedback to ensure that the pressure and techniques are comfortable for you. As the session progresses, you may find yourself drifting into a state of deep relaxation, guided by the soothing rhythm of the massage.

Thai massage offers a doorway to holistic healing and rejuvenation, drawing upon centuries of wisdom to nurture the body, mind, and spirit. Whether you seek relief from physical discomfort, a respite from the stresses of daily life, or simply a moment of blissful relaxation, Thai massage holds the promise of profound transformation. So, why not embark on this journey of self-discovery and experience the healing of Thai massage for yourself?™the original

What is Thai Massage?
It is a traditional healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures.

Unlike regular massages that involve lying passively, the Thai technique includes active participation from the client through stretching and muscle movement.

It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for movement and stretching. People often feel more comfortable in a loose jogging suit or yoga pants.
While it involves pressure and stretching, it shouldn’t be painful. Communicate with your therapist to adjust the pressure. Jariya taj=kes extreme care to find out any existing physical conditions or injuries to tailor every massage to meet the clients particular needs.
Sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on your preference and the services offered by the therapist. Jariya feels 90 minutes is the optimum time period unless you have a specific problem that needs extra attention.
