Massage Services in Greenock

Thai massage is a 2,500-year-old healing tradition combining acupressure, assisted yoga poses, and stretching techniques along the body’s energy lines (Sen). The therapist uses hands, thumbs, elbows and feet to apply rhythmic pressure and guide you through passive stretches — restoring balance to mind, body and energy flow.

Improved flexibility and joint mobility, reduced muscle tension, better circulation, lower stress, sharper mental clarity, and improved sleep. Regular sessions can ease chronic pain, improve posture, and support your body’s natural healing processes — addressing both physical and emotional well-being.

Traditional Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a floor mat — not on an oil-covered table — and is an active experience: the therapist combines acupressure, deep-tissue compression, and yoga-like stretches to work the body’s energy lines. The result is more dynamic and holistic than a typical oil massage, harmonising energy flow alongside physical release.

It can be intense — particularly the deep-pressure and stretching work — but should never cross into pain. A skilled therapist adjusts pressure to your comfort level and constantly checks in. Some discomfort during deep-tissue work is normal; sharp pain is not. Communicate openly and your session will stay effective and enjoyable.

For traditional Thai massage, wear loose comfortable clothing — yoga pants, leggings, lightweight trousers and a T-shirt are all ideal. The therapist needs full range of movement for stretching and acupressure work. For oil-based massages, you’ll undress to your comfort level and be covered with a sheet throughout, exposing only the area being worked on.

Sessions at Serendipity Thai Massage Greenock run 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Shorter sessions are good for targeted relief or quick relaxation; longer sessions allow comprehensive full-body work, energy-line treatment, and a wider range of stretches. Most clients find 60 or 90 minutes hits the right balance.

Mild soreness for a day or two after a deep session is normal — like the day after a good workout. Anyone with fractures, severe osteoporosis, recent surgery, advanced cardiovascular conditions, or who is pregnant should consult their doctor first. Complete our short medical questionnaire before booking so we can adapt the session safely.

Yes — Thai massage is particularly effective for back pain. The combination of acupressure, stretching and targeted muscle release improves posture, restores spinal mobility, and reduces inflammation through better circulation. For chronic back pain, consult your healthcare provider first to confirm Thai massage is the right approach for your specific condition.

Traditional deep-pressure Thai massage is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly the first trimester. Modified prenatal Thai massage — gentler, focused on relieving back pain and swollen feet — can be appropriate. Always check with your healthcare provider first, and confirm with us that your therapist has prenatal training before booking.

For general relaxation and stress relief, once or twice a month is a good rhythm. For chronic muscle tension or specific flexibility goals, weekly sessions are more effective in the short term, then taper to maintenance. Talk to Jariya at your first session — she’ll recommend a frequency based on what you want to address.

Our principal therapist Jariya has trained at the Wat Pho Temple Thai Massage School in Bangkok — the world-renowned home of traditional Thai massage — and is FHT-accredited in the UK. Both qualifications are recognised internationally. Read our Google reviews to see how her training and 20+ years of practice show up in every session.
